East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson recently met with a group of local families who are supported by Family Fund, the UK’s largest charity that provides grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people.
Jo heard from families as they discussed the challenges of caring for their children, how Family Fund’s financial support helps them to cope, and the barriers they face when trying to access education.
Last year, Family Fund provided 88,407 grants or services worth over £33 million to families across the UK. Their mission is to improve quality of life and remove barriers for low-income families.
“It was great to meet with Family Fund and a couple of the families they support locally. It was very moving to hear from Debbie, Robbie and Andrea about the challenges of everyday life whilst managing autism and ADHD, particularly in terms of education.”
