Local MP Jo Swinson took Scottish Liberal Democrat leader, Willie Rennie, to visit the Men’s Shed in Bearsden during Mental Health Awareness Week.
The Men’s Shed, which is located in the Pagoda in King George V Park, officially opened on 11th May and has created an invaluable community space, focusing on improving men’s health.
Commenting after the visit, Jo said:
“Willie has campaigned tirelessly to improve mental health and wellbeing in Scotland so I was delighted to be able to take him along to the Men’s Shed to see for himself the fantastic work that is being done there.
“It’s great to see how the space has developed and how the number of members has grown. They really have thought of everything – height adjustable sinks, baby-changing facilities and plans for a train set in the attic space.
“I hope that more men will be inspired to go along – whether they simply want to chat, read a good book or learn a new skill. After seeing Willie’s attempt at sawing a piece of wood, I know he would benefit greatly from some additional practice!”
