A local group for stroke victims today received a visit from Jo.
Jo and the newest Way Ahead Group member Moira Niven
Providing support and activities for stroke victims, the long-running Way Ahead Group meets every Thursday from 12:45-3:45pm in Bearsden’s Killermont Church, with around 24 current members.
Jo called in at the club, which is run by dedicated volunteers who ensure that members are cared for and keep physically active with games and light exercise.
Commenting, Jo said:
“It was great to have a cup of tea and chat with the members and volunteers of the Way Ahead Group. The members, who have all previously suffered strokes, were clearly benefitting from activities like bowls and simply enjoying each others’ company. The group relies on council funding and the valuable support of volunteers to keep going, so it was inspiring to see people giving up their time to help this great community resource.”
The group meet every Thursday in Killermont Church from 12.45-3.45pm.
The group are urgently searching for more volunteers and fundraising help to replace exercise bikes. For more information or to contribute, call Anne Wightman: 0141 942 4052 or Mary Munro: 0141 942 7961.
