Vacancy - Parliamentary Assistant

Jo Swinson MP is looking for a highly motivated full-time parliamentary assistant in her busy Westminster office.

The successful candidate will:

Have excellent written English and time management skills
Be a well-organised multi-tasker who works well under time pressure
Be familiar with broad political issues as well as those affecting the constituency
Be able to work using their own initiative
Have excellent political judgment and the ability to think strategically
A good understanding of Jo’s key policy interests

Key responsibilities:

Research and briefing on a wide-range of policy issues
Taking on wider project work
Drafting oral and written parliamentary questions and recognising the need for further action where appropriate
Supporting Jo’s policy work as well as monitoring parliamentary business
Draft press releases on local and national issues, keeping Jo’s website and social media up to date
Working with the constituency team to ensure key local issues are represented in the House of Commons  

Salary:

From £23,750 per annum (more information on IPSA payscales is available here). 

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be held during the week beginning Monday 7th January 2019. Applicants selected for interview will be required to complete a task prior to being interviewed.
