Good news: Post Office Ltd have listened to local residents and will not be moving the Lenzie Post Office to the Scotmid on Gallowhill Road.
In April Post Office Ltd launched a public consultation on their proposal to move the Lenzie Post Office branch into Scotmid on Gallowhill Road. The current owner Jass Toor wants to step down from the business. There were 400 hundred responses to the consultation with the vast majority opposing the plans.
Local MP Jo Swinson has welcomed Post Office Ltd’s decision not to go ahead with their proposed relocation of the branch in Lenzie. The announcement came today following a public consultation exercise into moving the current branch to the Scotmid on Gallowhill Road in Kirkintilloch.
Commenting as the Member of Parliament for East Dunbartonshire Jo said:
“There were over 400 responses to the consultation and the overwhelming majority were for the Post Office to stay where it was – in the heart of Lenzie.
“I am delighted that Post Office Ltd has listened to the views of my constituents. There are a lot of elderly people and parents with toddlers in Lenzie who would have found the new location beyond walking distance from the current location.
“I am sure Post Office Ltd will use the findings from the consultation to look for a more suitable location for Lenzie’s post office.”
