Unemployment in East Dunbartonshire down by 6%


Local MP Jo Swinson has welcomed figures that suggest unemployment across East Dunbartonshire has decreased by 6% since the General Election.

When the Coalition Government was formed in May 2010, there were 1,148 people claiming Job Seekers Allowance in East Dunbartonshire, compared to 1,073 last month (November). Commenting, Jo Swinson said:

“We are still in the midst of tough economic times both locally and nationally, but these figures show the first signs of recovery in East Dunbartonshire.

“This is a welcome end to the year, and an indication that the Coalition Government is taking the right measures to get people back to work and the economy back on track. With this Government committed to growth, I hope we will see continued progress in the New Year.”
