Jo Swinson has praised today’s fundraising event – UK Radio Aid
Local Lib Dem Jo Swinson has welcomed today’s initiative by commercial radio stations to raise money for the Asian Tsunami appeal. Jo, who organised on-air charity fundraising events when she worked for the Emap radio group, thinks the idea is excellent.
Jo said, “Radio is a powerful medium, and connects with people on a personal level. This makes it an ideal vehicle for fundraising events like UK Radio Aid. It is great to see so many different companies coming together for a good cause, and I wish the day every success.”
Local commercial radio stations Clyde 1, Beat 106 and Real Radio will join more than 250 local, regional and national radio stations for a 12 hour simulcast featuring special guest presenters and stars from the music and entertainment industries.
