Jo judged the qualifying round of national debating competition ‘Debating Matters’ yesterday, and has praised Bearsden Academy for their excellent performance.
The heat and qualifying round of the competition for the Lanarkshire region were held at Bearsden Academy on Thursday evening, and Jo was invited to come along and be one of the judges. Pupils were asked to debate whether or not the British National Party should be treated like other political parties. The round was won by St. Lukes High School from Barrhead, however Jo has praised the Bearsden Academy team for their strong effort.
Commenting, Jo said:
“It was a really interesting debate and I was impressed by all of the schools who competed. I was pleased to see the new Bearsden Academy site, which looks great and was clearly getting plenty of use right into the evening by various after school clubs. The Bearsden team gave a spirited performance, and although unfortunately they didn’t win, I hope the students are all feeling proud of what they have achieved.”
