Local MP Jo Swinson has spoken to Morrisons’ Scottish Development Executive on the latest Bishopbriggs town centre redevelopment news.
Andrew Wood said that the supermarket chain was trying to resolve issues around access to the site before beginning public consultation on the redevelopment. With the schools now back and normal travel patterns resumed, Morrisons have carried out a traffic survey to inform the discussions around access points to the site.
Commenting, Jo Swinson said:
“With very little news of the Bishopbriggs town centre site recently, it’s understandable that local people will have had concerns about what’s going on.
“Morrisons are currently working out the most effective means of access to the site, which is a vital consideration in the long-term to avoid further traffic problems around Bishopbriggs Cross. I hope that agreement can be reached soon on this, so that the important task of consulting the community can go ahead. With a new community hub and possible residential and retail development on the cards, the public’s views must be heard.”
