Scottish Water advises Milngavie and Bearsden customers not to drink tap water

Scottish Water has issued advice that customers in Milngavie and Bearsden should not drink tap water.

The update was issued at 12:30pm today, Friday 18th March, after analysis of water from the Burncooks Water Treatment Works indicated the presence of higher than expected aluminium levels in water in parts of Strathblane and Blanefield, Mugdock, Milngavie, Bearsden, Faifley, Hardgate and Cochno.

Until further notice, tap water should not be used for drinking, food preparation, making babies’ feeds, brushing teeth or for pets. Drinks and ice dispensing machines should also be avoided as these may be connected to the main supply.

Water can still be used for washing clothes, baths and showers and flushing toilets.
