Monday 9th June marks just 100 days until the historic independence referendum on 18th September, and local MP Jo Swinson is making a passionate call for Scotland to stay part of the United Kingdom.
For months now Jo has been out and about locally speaking to people about the referendum, and she will continue to campaign on this vital decision throughout the summer.
Jo has also hosted three successful public meetings on independence, taking questions from local residents on the issues they want addressed on the referendum, and she will be hosting further meetings up until September’s vote. For more details about the dates and locations of these meetings please visit http://www.joswinson.org.uk/referendum.
Commenting at this milestone, Jo said:
“We are now only 100 days away from the most important decision the Scottish people will make in our lifetimes.
“I wholeheartedly believe Scotland’s future is better as part of the United Kingdom. For over 300 years we have been part of a historic and prosperous union, and Scotland has contributed enormously to the success of the United Kingdom alongside our friends from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
“Over the comings weeks and months I will continue to campaign for Scotland to stay as part of the UK and for the benefits that will bring to us economically, culturally and on the world stage. We are better working together, pooling risks and sharing resources.
“The SNP have repeatedly failed to answer key questions on independence, and we are still left none the wiser from the Yes camp on major issues like currency, EU membership and the cost of setting up all the new institutions that would be needed. Being in the UK gives us the best of both worlds and we should vote to stay.”
