Jo Swinson slams Killermont and Westerton Post Office closure decision

8.10.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 8th Jun 2004

Commenting on the Post Office's decision to close their branches in Killermont and Westerton, Jo Swinson said: "This is devastating news for our communities in Killermont and Westerton."

"Many people who now use Killermont Post Office have already suffered the loss of Kessington Post Office, and people in Westerton are very concerned about losing their Post Office which is such a vibrant community hub. The Labour Government is the major shareholder in the Post Office, and it is failing to safeguard local Post Office services. How

can they sit back and do nothing, while watching the dreadful impact of these closures on some of the most vulnerable people in society?"
