Facebook meeting a success

4.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 5th May 2009

Jo is pleased that a meeting she organised using Facebook was a success, and plans to hold another one in future.

By using Facebook to organise an informal meeting at a pub in Bearsden, Jo hoped to reach a generation of people who might not otherwise come along to meet their MP.

The meeting took place on Sunday at The Inn on Station Road. Constituents wanted to talk about a range of issues, from finding safe routes to school to MPs' expenses and Gordon Brown's recent YouTube video, to settlement rights for Gurkhas.

Commenting, Jo said:

"I really enjoyed the meeting, it was a nice afternoon in the pub and a good opportunity to talk to some people who might not have come along to my surgeries. I'll definitely use Facebook again to organise meetings as this one was well attended and a very useful experience."
