Jo welcomes Tavish Scott to Scottish party leadership11.16.02am GMT Wed 27th Aug 2008
Tavish Scott has been chosen as the new leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, after triumphing in the party's leadership contest. In a vote of Liberal Democrat members in Scotland, Tavish Scott took 59% of votes, compared to 21.3% for his MSP colleague Ross Finnie and 17.9% for Mike Rumbles MSP. Jo, who backed Tavish Scott to take over from Nicol Stephen as leader of the Lib Dems in Scotland, said: "I am delighted that Tavish Scott has been chosen as the new Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats. "Tavish has the right blend of experience, energy and enthusiasm to lead the Lib Dems as we take the fight to the SNP and Labour in Scotland. "I look forward to working with Tavish as he sets the Liberal Democrats on a new footing at Holyrood and across the whole of Scotland."
