The Glasgow IPS office is the only passport processing office in Scotland

Commenting on the news that the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) is to close its processing centre in Glasgow with the loss of 114 jobs, Jo Swinson said:

"This is a hammer blow for employees of the UK Passport service from East Dunbartonshire and a very concerning development for the last remaining passport office in Scotland.

"The Government is cutting vital services at the same time as talking up its credentials on border security and pushing ahead with ill-fated plans for ID cards.

"I am contacting bosses at the Passport Service as a matter of urgency to assess the impact of these job losses on staff from East Dunbartonshire."
