The campaign to change the constituency name has received a huge response

Over 100 local residents have signed up to Jo Swinson's campaign to keep Bearsden in the title of the area's new Scottish Parliament constituency.

Under plans drawn up by the Boundary Commission for Scotland, a new constituency titled 'Milngavie and Bishopbriggs' has been proposed. However, Jo has formally asked the Commission to include Bearsden in the name.

Jo said:

"The local response to these proposals has been very strong. People can't see the sense in leaving Bearsden's name out of the new constituency.

"Between now and when the Boundary Commission presents its final proposals, I will be keeping the Commission updated on the rising number of residents backing the proposed change to make sure Bearsden is properly represented."

People can support the campaign by logging on at campaigns.libdems.org.uk/savebearsdenname or by telephoning Jo Swinson's office on 0141 762 2209.
