Former Milngavie resident Captain Craig Sellar was welcomed to Westminster by Jo Swinson today, as he led a group of young army recruits from Bassingbourn Barracks in Hertfordshire on a visit to the Houses of Parliament.

During the visit, the group held a question and answer session with Jo, quizzing the East Dunbartonshire MP on issues surrounding military activities in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Commenting on the visit, Jo said:

"After growing up together on the same street in Milngavie, I was delighted to meet up with Craig again. Last time we met he was preparing to go on military service to Iraq, while I was handing out fliers campaigning against the war.

"It is important that young armed forces recruits are given the chance to experience Westminster, where the big decisions on the future of their army careers will be made."

Capt Craig Sellar added:

"From our days together at Douglas Academy, I was pleased to be able to call on Jo to give the young recruits from Bassingbourn Barracks an insight into the workings of Westminster."
