Jo makes Christmas visit to Royal Mail in Milngavie

Jo praised the hard work of staff at the Royal Mail centre in Milngavie

Jo Swinson visited Royal Mail's Milngavie Delivery Office today to see the festive operation in full swing.

Jo was welcomed at the Milngavie Delivery Office by manager John McKale and all the postmen and women who are working hard doing their bit to sort and deliver the area's share of the estimated total Scottish Christmas postbag of 250 million items.

Jo said:

"It isn't until you step into the sorting office in Milngavie that you realise what an amazing job the Royal Mail staff carry out at this time of year. Staff will be working tirelessly between now and Christmas day to ensure that Milngavie's cards and gifts are delivered on time.

"We have all rushed to get our last minute Christmas posting done, but having met the Royal Mail staff charged with sorting and delivering Milngavie's Christmas mailbag, I will be more punctual with my posting this year!"

John McKale, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager at Milngavie said:

"Christmas is the busiest time of year, and our people really do pull out all the stops throughout the year to ensure mail is delivered quickly but even more so over the busy festive period. So we are pleased that Ms Swinson came along to Royal Mail to see first hand the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

"The postal staff do a fantastic job at this time of year to ensure that friends and families stay in touch through their Christmas greetings and gifts. And as usual, we urge our customers to post early so that friends and family have longer to enjoy their Christmas greetings!"
