Jessica's winning design will be printed on 1,500 Christmas cards

Jo Swinson visited St Andrew's Primary in Bearsden today to congratulate the winner of her Christmas card competition.

The winning design, to appear on 1,500 cards being sent out by Jo Swinson, was drawn by Primary 7 pupil Jessica Docherty. Jo presented Jessica with her prize, a £20 book token donated by Milngavie Bookshop.

Commenting after the presentation, Jo said:

"My warmest congratulations to Jessica. Her winning design looks excellent on the finished card, which I will be delighted to send out to local groups and individuals across the constituency.

"As in previous years, pupils from schools across East Dunbartonshire have shown off their artistic talents. I'm sure the competition judges will testify what a difficult job they had in choosing a winner. All of the pupils who took part will receive a certificate of appreciation for their hard work."

A separate competition to write a Christmas poem to appear inside Jo Swinson's Christmas card was won by Grant Robertson, 1st year at Bishopbriggs Academy.

Two runners up in both the design and poetry competitions each receive a £10 token. They are:

• Christmas picture: Nicola Lang, S1, Lenzie Academy and Ethan Sawers, S1, Boclair Academy

• Christmas poem: Amanda Swan, P7, Lenzie Moss Primary and Morgan Dow, P5, Westerton Primary
