Torrance Primary pupils quiz Jo5.42.00pm GMT Thu 1st Nov 2007 Following their recent visit to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, pupils from Torrance Primary welcomed local MP Jo Swinson into their classroom today. Jo, who gave a talk to pupils on her job as local Member of Parliament, was delighted by the warm welcome she received from the pupils. She commented: "Even at such a young age, the Primary 7 pupils clearly have a good grasp of local and national issues. They were eager to ask about major political topics such as the Lib Dem leadership election, as well as local issues such as the idea of opening a new Torrance Community Centre. "With their trip to the Scottish Parliament, mock class elections held recently and my visit to explain the role of an MP, the pupils are receiving a very positive political education."
