Jo seeks budding Christmas card artists10.03.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 23rd Oct 2007
Jo Swinson has launched the search to find a young artist or poet to help create her official Christmas card for 2007. The local MP has invited all Primary School pupils in East Dunbartonshire to come up with a Christmas design for the front of the card, as well as a festive poem to be printed inside. All pupils who take part will receive a certificate of appreciation. The card carrying the winning entries will be sent out to around 1,500 groups and individuals across East Dunbartonshire. The closing date for competition entries is the 12th November. Jo said: "The Christmas card competition has been a great success over the last two years. Choosing the winner has always been a difficult task due to the high standard of entries and I'm sure this year will be no different. "My hope is that the competition gives kids throughout East Dunbartonshire a chance to produce a unique piece of work, either of art or poetry, whilst having a fun time in doing so. "I have been overwhelmed by the huge number of entries the competition has attracted in the past, and I am delighted to be getting the search for this year's winner underway."
