Jo Swinson, the East Dunbartonshire MP, yesterday swapped the busy corridors of Westminster for the tranquil beauty of Loch Ness as she competed in the annual Loch Ness Marathon.

The Marathon, which Jo ran on behalf of the Anaphylaxis campaign, encompassed a gruelling 26 mile stretch that took runners from the shore of the famous Loch right into the centre of Inverness where friends and family had gathered to cheer them through the finish line.

After the run Jo commented;

"I am proud to have completed the run in the time of 4 hours, 7 minutes and 18 seconds. There were some really difficult moments but I luckily managed to push through them and crossed the line in a very respectable position."

"I also managed to raise over £1500 for the Anaphylaxis campaign, a cause particularly important to me, and would like to thank everyone who sponsored me"

Jo will be delighted to accept further sponsorship for the run. Cheques payable to the Anaphylaxis Campaign can be sent to Jo's office: 4 Springfield House, Emerson Road, Bishopbriggs G64 1QE. Online sponsorship is also possible via the website: www.joswinson.org.uk/marathon
