Jo gives Bearsden Academy top marks

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 3rd Oct 2007

Bearsden Academy opened its doors to Jo Swinson yesterday as the East Dunbartonshire MP made a special extended visit to meet with pupils and staff.

Jo met with students from both the S3 and S6 Grades to talk about her experiences in Westminster and answer questions about life as a Member of Parliament.

Jo also had the opportunity to hold a special "school surgery" during the lunchtime break to meet with pupils and hear about their concerns on a one-to-one basis.

After the visit Jo commented;

"It was a pleasure to speak to the pupils at Bearsden Academy today. As always I found them attentive, engaging and eager to learn about the various roles of a Member of Parliament. I was particularly impressed by the level of political awareness shown at all levels, and enjoyed answering the students' probing questions."

"The school surgery also proved popular, and I hope to extend this service to schools across the constituency in the near future."
