Every September and October ASDA staff take part in 'Tickled Pink' fundraising

Jo Swinson paid tribute to the fundraising efforts of staff at ASDA Bearsden during a visit to the store today. The 200-strong workforce have raised £1,500 so far this year for Breast Cancer Care and are aiming to beat their fundraising total of £3,000 from 2006.

Over September and October each year, ASDA raises money for Breast Cancer Care through its 'Tickled Pink' campaign. Staff at the Bearsden store have organised raffles, tombolas and even an Oscars evening as part of their efforts this year.

Jo said:

"All credit to the staff at ASDA Bearsden for their fundraising work in aid of Breast Cancer Care. They have done extremely well by raising the total they have so far, but clearly they are determined to keep going and raise a lot more.

"Every year, breast cancer will take the lives of over 13,000 people in the UK, around 14 of who will be from East Dunbartonshire. We are lucky to have a local centre of excellence in the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, but much of the vital work that is going on still relies on public donations.

"Best of luck to the staff at ASDA Bearsden as they aim to beat their fundraising total for 2006 of £3,000."
