Customers at Lenzie station have access to regular services to Glasgow and Edinburgh

Jo Swinson has reinforced the need for action over extra parking at Lenzie station.

Jo held talks today with Network Rail and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, to press home the message that the current parking situation is unsustainable.

Commenting after the meeting, Jo said:

"SPT and Network Rail have had the message reinforced to them that the current parking situation at Lenzie station can't continue. Commuters parking their cars on the street can inconvenience and endanger residents.

"With an excellent rail service from Lenzie to Glasgow and Edinburgh, however, people should not be discouraged from using the train.

"The solution is to create greater capacity in the station car park, and while there are still issues to be addressed before work to achieve this can begin, the officials in charge are aware of the pressing need for action."
