Bishopbriggs Post Office celebrates 2nd Birthday3.10.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 25th Jun 2007
Jo Swinson joined Sub-postmaster John Dickson today, to celebrate two years since the opening of Bishopbriggs Post Office. John Dickson stepped in to provide postal services in Bishopbriggs after Morrisons withdrew backing for its in-store post office counter. Petitioning against the closure of the post office counter, Jo collected some 4,000 signatures from local people. Jo said: "It is wonderful to be able to mark two years since the opening of Bishopbriggs Post Office under John Dickson's stewardship. "Shortly after the opening of the Post Office, I called on local people to support the new business to make sure it got off the ground. I am glad to hear from John that the new service is doing well - the bureau de change in particular is thriving, which is good news with the summer holiday season approaching."
