Lib Dems stongly opposed the Bill, which further exempts MPs from existing Freedom of Information laws

Commenting on the passing of the Freedom of Information (Amendment) Bill in the House of Commons this afternoon, Jo Swinson said:

"Today's vote is a travesty for democratic accountability.

"The fact that Westminster MPs have exempted themselves from the restrictions they place on others, including colleagues in the Scottish Parliament, is disgraceful.

"Liberal Democrats were out in force to try to prevent this happening, but Labour and Tory MPs forced it though.

"This backwards step paints Parliament in an extremely poor light."
