Jo shows green fingers at new Craigdhu Primary garden4.25.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 3rd Apr 2007
Jo Swinson was on hand to pitch in with volunteers creating a new conservation garden at Craigdhu Primary, Milngavie, today, as part of the school's 'living classroom'. The ground clearing work was being undertaken by BTCV, the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, to prepare for the garden to be created at the school. Parents of Craigdhu pupils will plant the garden, which will give pupils an opportunity to learn about nature and conservation. Jo said: "The school's 'living classroom' is a great way of helping the pupils at Craigdhu learn about the nature around them. They will be able to study the new conservation garden as it grows and changes. "It is more important than ever to educate pupils about conservation and the natural environment, as they will be the guardians of our environment in years to come." BTCV run a wide variety of conservation projects on a voluntary basis. They currently operate 4 days a week, offering a free pick-up to all volunteers. For more information on volunteering with BTCV, local Community Projects Officer John McGregor can be contacted by phone: (0141) 956 6816 or email: j.mcgregor@btcv.org.uk. Related Link:
