Jo Swinson is highlighting a scheme to provide financial benefits to amateur sports clubs in East Dunbartonshire.

Run by the Community Amateur Sports Club Association (CASC), the membership scheme gives clubs whose yearly trading income is under £30,000 exemption from Corporation Tax and allows clubs to claim Gift Aid on donations made to the club.

Jo said:

"Sports clubs play a vital role in our community, but I know from discussions and visits to various local clubs that funding is always an important concern.

"The CASC scheme was drawn to my attention at a recent event by the Central Council of Physical Recreation, and I have since written to sports clubs across East Dunbartonshire to highlight the benefits it could bring to their club. Across the country, this scheme could be saving thousands of pounds for amateur sport clubs, instead of giving it to the taxman.

"Anyone interested in seeing whether the CASC scheme would be right for their club should check the website for for further info: www.cascinfo.co.uk."
