Jo urges schools to claim free pupil maps

5.06.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 4th Sep 2006

Jo Swinson visited Bearsden Primary today to present maps provided by Ordnance Survey to Primary 7 pupils, and called on those schools that have not yet ordered their free maps to do so.

For the fifth year running, Ordnance Survey is offering free 1:25,000 scale Explorer Maps to all Primary 7 pupils. The maps are currently available to order direct from Ordnance Survey.

Jo said:

"I was delighted to be asked to present OS maps to the two Primary 7 classes at Bearsden Primary. This worthwhile scheme by Ordnance Survey will help familiarise the pupils with the basics of map-reading, and for some it will spark a deeper interest in mapping.

"I would encourage all Primary schools that have not yet taken part in this scheme to contact Ordnance Survey on 08456 050505, or visit the OS website using the link below, where their free maps can be ordered up until 31st October."
