Jo was greeted by members of the Warm Welcome Club during her visit today

Jo Swinson MP shared a cup of tea and a chat with members of the 'Warm Welcome Club', when she paid a visit to Kirkintilloch Miners Welfare Club today.

The club meets every Wednesday and welcomes around 100 elderly people from the Kirkintilloch area.

Jo commented:

"It was lovely to meet the members and staff at the Warm Welcome Club. The club deserves huge credit for providing a great place for local people to meet and socialise.

"It is all too easy for elderly and disabled people to become isolated, without services like the Warm Welcome Club to keep them active and sociable."

Kirkintilloch Miners Welfare Secretary Florence Cairney added:

"I would like to thank Jo Swinson for taking the time to come along to the club - having our local MP present certainly put a smile on the faces of many of our regular visitors."
