Jo has paid tribute to the success of CUIS staff

The Computer Users Information Service, based in Milngavie, was today presented with an Investors In People Award by Jo Swinson MP.

The company's 25-strong workforce trained over a 12-month period to achieve the award, which recognises the attainment of a high level of ability in staff.

Commenting on the Award, Jo Swinson said:

"I was delighted to be asked to present this award. The CUIS has been operating out of Milngavie for the past 25 years providing services to the whole of the UK, has a large local workforce and deserves this recognition as a strong, successful and community-centred business.

"Achieving an Investors In People award is a challenging process, but well worthwhile. It brings benefits to companies and staff, such as improved productivity, customer satisfaction and motivation. My congratulations go to everyone at the CUIS for all their hard work."

Rod McNally, Managing Director of CUIS, commented:

"We are an IT company, but we don't sell products - we provide a service to our clients. So our main asset is our people. We all worked hard to improve the professionalism and knowledge of our staff, and were delighted to be rewarded with Investors In People recognition.

"This is an important signal to our business partners - that they can rely on our staff to produce work of the best quality.

"My thanks go to Jo Swinson. It is great to have our MP visit us in person to find out more about who we are and what we do."

Originally established in Scotland in 1978, the CUIS now operates throughout the UK from its Milngavie base. Employing 25 staff, over half of whom live locally, it is one of the biggest employers in Milngavie.

The CUIS provides an IT Information Service to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises throughout the UK, helping them to source suppliers of IT products and services. The company has developed its own database of 50,000 UK organisations who they talk to regularly in order to understand the IT issues they are facing.

For the last year the CUIS has been working with local consultant, Susan Mathieson, to achieve Investor in People (IIP) recognition. This project, assisted by Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire, resulted in better team working and improved individual performance. IIP recognition has now been awarded to the CUIS.
