Jo Swinson today welcomed Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy to East Dunbartonshire.
Meeting a group of elderly ramblers, Charles highlighted the Liberal Democrat policies to ensure dignity and security in retirement - scrapping the unfair Council Tax, increasing pensions by £100 per month and providing better care for elderly people.
Local shoppers were surprised and pleased to see Charles in Milngavie precinct, as he met residents and schoolchildren - who insisted on using their mobile phone cameras to have a picture taken with Charles.
Charles conducted media interviews in local coffee shop Touch of Asia, where staff presented Charles with a sculpture as a present for new baby Donald James. Local Lib Dem Provost Pat Steel also gave Charles baby presents on behalf of the Council group.
