Lib Dems launch voter registration drive

Jo Swinson is urging people to register to vote

If the General Election is called on 5 May 2005, the deadline for registering to vote will be 11 March. Local campaigner Jo Swinson and the Liberal Democrats are launching a last minute drive to ensure that East Dunbartonshire residents don't lose their chance to vote.

Commenting, Jo Swinson said: "There are less than 3,000 votes between the Lib Dems and Labour in East Dunbartonshire - every vote will count. Unfortunately, thousands of people lose their right to vote each year because they don't register in time. Don't let it happen to you!"

The Liberal Democrats will be handing out voter registration forms to residents when out canvassing over the next few weeks.

Local people can request a registration form by phoning the Electoral Registration Office on 0141 562 1200.
