Local MP Jo Swinson is looking for talented young people to submit designs and poems for her Christmas cards.
Every year Jo holds a competition for school pupils in East Dunbartonshire to submit designs and poems for the cards she sends to over 1,800 groups and individuals across East Dunbartonshire and beyond. The competition is open to all school pupils in East Dunbartonshire and the winner will be determined by a judging panel of local community figures.
Ahead of next year’s hosting of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the theme of this year’s competition is “Christmas in the Commonwealth”. The winning design will be printed on the front, with the poem printed inside. Prizes will be given to the winners in the design and poetry categories, as well as the runners up in each category. Every local pupil who enters will receive a certificate. The deadline for entries is Friday 8th November.
“My annual Christmas Card competition is a great opportunity for children in East Dunbartonshire to showcase their talents and creativity.
“I’m looking forward to the fantastic entries arriving over the next few weeks. The level of the submissions always makes it a difficult task to pick the winner and runners up in each category.
“I hope that lots of schools take up the challenge and get involved.”
Entries for the competition should be sent to Jo’s office at 126 Drymen Road Bearsden Glasgow G61 3RB.
