On Tuesday Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire met with Richard Bakes from Morrisons and Bill Marley from Ryden Commercial Property Consultants to speak in depth about the proposed changes to the store on the Bishopbriggs Town Centre site.
Morrisons intend to submit a masterplan document, along with detailed planning submissions, to the Council in about a fortnight.
Commenting Jo said:
"Morrisons told me that two-thirds of the people filling out feedback forms at the exhibition in May were against the plans.
"It is therefore disappointing that Morrisons said they wouldn't be making any further substantial changes to the plans, especially on the issue of bringing the store entrance closer to Kirkintilloch Road to integrate it better with the existing town centre.
"Once the plans are submitted I hope people will engage with the planning process and let the Council know their views. I hope that Morrisons will also take up my suggestion of producing a scale model to help people visualise what they are proposing."
