Speaking in a debate in Parliament last week on the future of the digital and tech industries in the UK, local MP Jo Swinson highlighted the ongoing broadband connectivity issues in Woodilee Village, Lenzie.
In September 2017, around 750 of 900 homes were still without fibre-optic broadband. This lack of connectivity continues to be a growing cause of concern among residents, many of whom work from home and depend on the internet for their livelihood.
Commenting, Jo said:
“I am still astonished that Woodilee Village does not have adequate broadband.
“It is unacceptable, not to mention short-sighted, for fast broadband services not to be properly planned and installed in a new housing estate. We know how essential good internet service is for modern living, so there really is no excuse.
“I have previously written to Ministers about the issue, and I hope that by continuing to raise this at the highest level a solution can be found as soon as possible.”
