Girls say “We can save our planet” as part of the 2012 theme Environment
Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire attended World Thinking Day Services with the Bearsden Guides, Brownies and Rainbows at New Kilpatrick Church in Bearsden yesterday. World Thinking Day is celebrated each year by Girl Guides across the globe as a day when they think about their sisters and brothers around the world, the meaning of Guiding, and its global impact.
A number of the girls attending made their Guide promises at the event.
“It was a pleasure to attend the World Thinking Day celebrations where the girls spoke out about challenges to the environment and made plans for actions to save our planet.“
“The Guides have been providing amazing experiences for young women for over a hundred years – teaching them valuable skills whilst imparting a sense of independence and responsibility. I was a Girl Guide myself when I was young, and I have so many fond memories from that time. I applaud the Bearsden Guides for encouraging girls and young women to make a personal commitment to change the world around them.”
