Jo has expressed concern that the level of unemployment in East Dunbartonshire has risen for a second month.
The number of people claiming unemployment benefits in East Dunbartonshire rose to 1,229 in February, a rise of 21 people since January.
Unemployment in East Dunbartonshire had been slowly falling for four months until December, but has quickly risen back to its peak level of 3%, which was last reached in August 2009.
The number of people unemployed in East Dunbartonshire has risen by more than 200 people since this time last year.
Commenting, Jo said:
“Despite its best efforts, the Labour Government has failed to deliver real economic recovery for Scotland. While the Government claimed this week that its action on the economy is ‘making a real difference’, this clearly doesn’t extend to Scotland.
“The Tories’ plans for drastic cuts in public spending will not deliver jobs for people in East Dunbartonshire either. Vince Cable and the Liberal Democrats have outlined a strong plan for economic recovery which will not take Scotland for granted.”
