Local MP Jo Swinson has welcomed the news that ScotRail plans to conduct an urgent study and take action to improve train departures from Milngavie.
Problems on the line include the skipping of stops and one of the lowest punctuality rates in Scotland, with just 28% running on time.
ScotRail has confirmed that the practice of skipping stops, previously used to make up time on delayed services, will only be used as a last resort.
“I welcome the news that ScotRail will look more closely at the Milngavie line. Residents in Bearsden and Milngavie are fed up with how often their trains are delayed, cancelled, or miss out stops.
“I am meeting with ScotRail’s managing director next month to impress upon him the impact this is having on people in East Dunbartonshire, and to demand prompt action to improve the reliability of this important service.”
