Local MP Jo Swinson has welcomed the latest unemployment figures for East Dunbartonshire which show more than 140 fewer people were out of work than a year ago.
The total number of unemployed claimants in East Dunbartonshire in September of this year was 994 – some 146 lower than in September last year, and 64 lower than in August this year.
Commenting Jo said:
"East Dunbartonshire has a very low rate of unemployment, just over 2 out of every 100 people, not in education, between the ages of 16 to 64.
"These figures are to be welcomed but we must not be complacent and there are still far more people out of work than I would like in our community.
"I will continue to work on initiatives to boost business and increase employment opportunities in our local area."
