Local MP Jo Swinson recently visited Castlehill Primary School in Bearsden with special guests Miriam González Durántez and her husband, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
Taking a break from Liberal Democrat Conference in Glasgow, Jo, Nick and Miriam were shown Castlehill’s new nursery, participated in a cookery class and saw a presentation from a P1 class on what they had been learning about plants.
Commenting after the visit, Jo said:
“It’s not every day the Deputy Prime Minister pops into your local school to make scones, but the children at Castlehill relished the opportunity to show off their cookery skills. We were impressed by the hard work the children had put into delivering a great show for us including the artwork in the nursery and the lovely presentation on the plants they have been growing.
“Castlehill is a fantastic local primary school and we all enjoyed a hugely successful visit. My thanks to Miriam and Nick for taking the time to come and visit, and also to the staff and children who were so welcoming.”
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said:
“I was delighted to visit Castlehill Primary School. The facilities at the school are fantastic and it was great to see the children making the most of them.
“Miriam, Jo and I particularly enjoyed cooking with the children and seeing the new nursery refurbishment.”
