Local MP Jo Swinson paid a visit to Fleming Buildings in Lenzie for a tour of the factory and to meet the company’s staff and apprentices.
Fleming Buildings was established nearly 55 years ago, and is a family firm with around 80 employees, more than half of whom have worked for the company for over 15 years. The company also takes on two apprentices each year.
Commenting, Jo said:
“It was good to meet the hardworking team at Fleming, including Ronnie and the apprentices Lewis and Aiden.
“We spoke about the recent trends in the construction industry in Scotland, and about the uncertainty that Brexit is causing for business in this sector and others right across the country.”
Ronnie Burrows, Director of Fleming, said:
“We were delighted to welcome Jo Swinson to tour our office and factory.
“It was encouraging to see that she has a genuine interest in the work of local businesses.
“Our company has been in the area for more than 50 years and our work on a range of projects across Scotland including hospitals, schools, community hubs, churches and commercial enterprises continues to provide employment for over 70 people.”
