Local MP Jo Swinson has recently met with a senior Post Office official to discuss plans for the reopening of the Lenzie Post Office.
The local community is concerned about the unexpected closure on 3rd February 2017 of the Post Office in Lenzie. Since 29th March, Post Office officials have been exploring alternative locations within the town for the Lenzie branch, however a new site has yet to be confirmed.
Jo said: “The closure of the Lenzie Post Office has caused major problems for many in the local community, so it is vital that a Lenzie branch reopens as a matter of urgency.
“The extra footfall that would be generated from Post Office business provides an excellent commercial opportunity for retailers, and would also be a great demonstration of their continued support for the Lenzie community."
Jo has actively reached out to several nationwide retailers that have branches in Lenzie and that already operate Post Office services at other locations around the country. She said: “I have raised this at the highest level with The Co-operative Group and McColl’s Retail Group to encourage them to work with Post Office Ltd to find a solution that will benefit both them and the residents of Lenzie.”
