East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson has expressed her gratitude for the selfless work of all local volunteers. Jo was commenting before the 30th annual Volunteers’ Week from 1st-7th June, which aims to celebrate the dedication of volunteers across the UK.
Locally, East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action (EDVA) will host six events across the week to celebrate the work of volunteers who give up their time to support local causes. The events will be a chance for people to swap their own experiences of volunteering and EDVA will also be offering information about how people can get involved in volunteering in the community.

Commenting, Jo said:
“Volunteers’ Week is a great chance for us to celebrate the dedication of volunteers, especially locally where we have a number of fantastic voluntary groups that provide a diverse range of services in our communities.
“I also want to thank East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action for the work they put in throughout the year supporting voluntary groups and the efforts they are making to promote the contribution of local volunteers during national Volunteers’ Week.
“Many organisations would not be able to function without the tireless energy and commitment volunteers bring. Those who go the extra mile, often without recognition, deserve to be thanked for their dedication on Volunteers’ Week.
“I encourage people across East Dunbartonshire to consider the benefits of voluntary work, which include the chance to get involved in worthwhile causes, learning new skills, improving physical and mental well-being or simply meeting interesting new people”.
