Jo praises award winning young volunteers

Local MP Jo Swinson presented 3 Millennium Volunteer Awards to members of the Friday Night Live youth club last week.

Millennium Volunteering Awards are given on the completion of 50, 100 or 200 hours of volunteering. Daniel McBride, Christopher James, and Gregor Patterson were presented the awards for the hundreds of hours they have given back to the community as Young Leaders of the club.

Friday Night Live is an open youth club for Primary 7s to Secondary 3s run by volunteers in the Kirkintilloch Baptist Church. The club has been running for more than 20 years and currently has more than 160 members. Activities range from dance to arts and crafts, chatting at the tuck shop and playing on the huge bouncy inflatable the club owns.

Commenting Jo Swinson said:

“I was delighted to present the awards to the outstanding Friday Night Live volunteers. It was also a treat to drop by and see the great work that the club does providing a safe and fun atmosphere for local children. Christopher, Daniel and Gregor are good role models for the next generation of Friday Night Live Younger Leaders and the community as a whole.”
