Local MP Jo Swinson has nominated Robeslee Concrete Company of Kirkintilloch for a responsible business champion award.
The Responsible Business Champions scheme is run by the All-Party Parliamentary Corporate Responsibly Group, which presents an annual award to recognise responsible businesses that go above and beyond in supporting their local communities.
Robeslee Concrete Company are a small business in East Dunbartonshire who supply concrete products used in construction across Scotland. The company aims to be as environmentally friendly as possible, innovating their own systems to make their production processes greener. This includes the re-use of water used in cooling and harvesting rainwater.
Commenting, Jo said:
"It’s great to see a local employer taking responsibility for their impact on the wider world. Robeslee has led the way in creating innovative and sustainable business practices, setting a really positive example within their sector.
"When I last visited Robeslee, I heard more about the specific challenges they face. Many larger companies are understandably taking precautions to protect their supplies given the uncertainty around Britain’s future with the European Union, but this has had an impact on smaller businesses like Robeslee who are finding it difficult to secure warehouse space.
"Robeslee is a great example of a business leading the way whilst navigating uncertain economic and political times and I am delighted to nominate them as Responsible Business Champions within East Dunbartonshire."
