Jo has met some of East Dunbartonshire’s candidates ahead of the Scottish Youth Parliament elections this month.
From 14th-25th March, the Scottish Youth Parliament will be electing new representatives. East Dunbartonshire residents aged 14-25 will be able to vote for their choice of candidates standing for either the Clydebank and Milngavie or Bearsden and Strathkelvin constituency.
This Monday, East Dunbartonshire’s schools will be holding an election day complete with ballot boxes, and the Kirkintilloch learning centre will open throughout the day for voting.
Jo recently met local candidates Kieran Guckian, Alia Ghafar, Ross Greer and Katie Hart to discuss their campaigns, and pass on tips about hustings events and speaking to large audiences.
Commenting, Jo said:
“It was a pleasure to meet some of East Dunbartonshire’s Scottish Youth Parliament candidates, and share my own experiences of exhausting campaigns and nerve-racking election nights. As a trustee of the UK Youth Parliament, I am delighted to see young people getting involved in politics.
“The upcoming elections are a fantastic opportunity for young Scots to have their say, and it was clear from our meeting that the candidates are passionate about giving young people a voice. I wish them the very best of luck.”
