On Saturday 31st March, from 8:30-9:30pm, local MP Jo Swinson will join families, businesses, organisations and individuals in East Dunbartonshire and around the world to celebrate Earth Hour. Millions will switch off their lights for one hour to show their concern about climate change.
Jo will be taking part by celebrating at a candle-lit supper being held at Baldernock Church Hall at 7:30pm. As Earth Hour begins, live music will be provided by professional musicians. The organisers of the event want as many members of the community as possible to take part in the event and bring food and drink to share.
Commenting, Jo said:
“I’m delighted to be able to support Earth Hour. More than 200 individuals from the community are taking part as well as local businesses, schools and organisations.”
“This annual event encourages millions of people in more than 130 countries across the globe to take part in saving energy while highlighting the problem of climate change. I hope many people will take part in Earth Hour at this event or at home, by turning off the lights for an hour and joining this international movement to help reduce climate change.”
