Around 100 girls from 7 local schools and colleges took part in career ‘speed-dating’ exercises with 10 high-profile women from a range of backgrounds including business, charities and the arts. The girls were able to quiz the guests about their life experiences and career choices, and discuss their own ambitions.

The schoolgirls were also treated to an uplifting speech from top international lawyer Miriam González Durántez, who is championing the Inspiring Women campaign.

Commenting after the visit, Jo said:

“The aim of the Inspiring Women campaign is to motivate the next generation of talented young girls to realise their potential. These local schoolgirls made the most of this fantastic opportunity to network with a number of female role models from across Scotland, and I was struck by how many said how much they enjoyed the event and were now inspired to consider new career paths.”

The following local schools attended the event:

Bishopbriggs Academy

Boclair Academy

St Ninian's High School

Douglas Academy

Lenzie Academy

Turnbull High School

New College, Lanarkshire
